care for your wound
If you have a clear bandage/second skin bandage on:
*Removed the clear bandage after 24 hours.
*If goop is forming underneath the bandage that is normal, and you don't need to remove it unless it is leaking.
*With thoroughly washed hands, remove the bandage in the shower under warm running water.
*The bandage may cause the skin underneath to look red and wrinkly for a bit after removal - this is normal.
If you have a traditional bandage on:
*Keep your bandage on for 2-4 hours. Do not remove it prior to 2 hours.
*Wash your hands thoroughly before delicately removing the bandage.
*Wash and clean the tattoo and surrounding area with warm water and a liquid anti-bacterial gentle cleanser from a pump or pour bottle (not a bar of soap). Use only your fingertips in a gentle circular motion to remove any blood, ink, and remaining traces of liquids and ointments. Do not use washcloths, paper towels, loofahs, or anything abrasive to clear your fresh tattoo.
avoid infection
After removing your bandage and gently washing your tattoo:
* Gently pat your tattoo dry using a clean paper towel. Let it finish air drying for 5-10 minutes, then apply your aftercare product. Do not oversaturate your new tattoo with product.
*Apply a little product to your index finger and disperse a small bead size of around 3-5mm on average for every square inch. Then with another finger, use a gentle circle motion to rub the aftercare product into a very thin layer absorbed into the skin.
*Tattoos require basic wound care until they are healed. You should clean and dry your new tattoo using the method described above twice daily until it is fully healed. Healing periods vary from tattoo to tattoo and can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 weeks depending on size, location, amount of blackwork or colorpacking and overall wound creation/skin damage.
